Project 2003 Level 1 Course Exercises

Exercise 1: Adding Tasks (back to course homepage)

Scenario: You have been assigned to manage a project which requires you to review an old policy, modify it for current field practice, see that the appropriate personnel edit it and submit to the Fire Chief for approval. While this actual project would involve a considerable number of policies and procedures, you will identify the process for one policy for the sake of simplicity.

  • Begin a new Project file and save it as policies.mpp.
  • Add the following tasks:
    • Receive policy number and retrieve policy
    • Edit existing policy in Word
    • Have document edited for accuracy by subject matter expert
    • Revise document
    • Have document edited by department editor
    • Revise document
    • Have document reviewed by Division Chiefs
    • Revise document
    • Have document reviewed by Union for notice and opportunity
    • Revise document
    • Send to Fire Chief for approval
  • Remember to save your file. (This reminder will not appear in future exercises; for each exercise, replace the existing file.)

Exercise 2: Assigning Times to Tasks (back to course homepage)
